My Story
My name is JC, and I’m passionate about everyday carry. It all started when I picked up a Gerber survival knife at my local Canadian Tire. Then came my first Spyderco Dragonfly, followed by a Mora Companion. I couldn’t resist the orange Spyderco Delica, and when the CRKT Provoke was released… well, you know how the story goes!
I even tried my hand at making knives. Using O1 tool steel and a simple file, I shaped my first blade. I built a tin-can furnace and did the heat treating in motor oil—all on the balcony of my apartment. Mad respect to knife makers everywhere—it’s no easy feat!
My journey into EDC didn’t stop there. I wanted to create accessories for my knives, and one thing led to another. That’s how I discovered EDC bead making. For me, it’s the perfect blend of art and functionality. After countless hours of trial and error, I found a way to turn my sculptures into beads that can be carried on everyday adventures.
I always start with a piece of clay and let the shape guide me. Sometimes inspiration strikes instantly, while other times it takes weeks of experimenting to finalize a design—or scrap it entirely. Each creation is its own adventure because I never know how it will turn out in the end.
Once I’m happy with a design, I begin the process of 3D scanning, modeling, and printing to create a bead prototype. Then comes the casting and finishing work—a long and intricate process that’s far from efficient. I still prefer to sculpt in clay instead of designing directly on a computer because I can’t replicate the same organic feel with a keyboard and mouse. Clay is always going to be my preferred creative medium.
Based in Canada, I’ve always loved art and crafting. This is my creative outlet and a much-needed escape from the daily grind. There’s nothing more rewarding than watching a design transform from a lump of clay into a finished bead.
I only do limited drops due to my small-scale production, and each piece is crafted with the utmost attention to detail.
Thank you for supporting my creative journey!
